I’ve been thinking about different divination styles lately and trying to figure out if I have a favorite. Honestly? I keep going back to oracle and tarot – though I’m still learning ogham.
Do you have a favorite divination style?

I usually go with ogham staves or animal spirit oracle deck.
Ogham is one of my favorites, but it’s taking me longer to learn the meanings than I’d like. I do find that I connect with them more on an intuitive level - it’s nice!
Yeah, my mind has little capacity to remember so I have notes that I look back on for everything.
lol that’s exactly how I am. I’m waiting to get my hands on Erynn Rowan Laurie’s book Weaving Word Wisdom. I’ve got it in my wishlist, I just haven’t had a chance to snag it yet
I will have to check that book out… I just subscribed to Scribd so they seem to have all the books on there that you can borrow to read or listen. I have Kindle Unlimited but those available I want arent always an option.
Yeah, it’s on Scribd. That’s where I’ve been reading it and utilizing it as a resource. I much prefer a physical copy, though. It’s easier for me to use.
It’s a book that comes highly recommended in regard to learning ogham for divination!
Sweet, thanks for mentioning it!
You’re welcome! I hope it’s helpful for you!
Tarot is one of my favorites as well, but I also like to do divination through meditation. I will make a small offering to the God and Goddess, ask my question, and then slip into a meditative state. There I can walk through my internal landscape, and what I find there will give me clues to what I’m looking to learn.
For something more simple, I’m very tempted to try a couple things. I want to try the “yes, no, maybe” stones (white, black, and speckled stones of the same size and shape) in a bag. I’d also like to try using dice. When I play D&D (either DM or solo) I use an oracle table to determine yes/no/maybe answers, and I think that has a lot of potential for divination!
Ohh divination through meditation is a good idea. I hadn’t thought of that before!
What’s an oracle table? I’ve never played D&D seriously, but we’ve tried a few times lol we have the dice, the books, everything ready to go.
It’s something I learned about through playing a solo version of the game. You ask yes/no questions, roll a d20, and based on the result the table tells you if it’s a yes, no, or maybe. I also have another version that has more options (yes and, yes, yes but, etc.) And using that, and a much bigger table with random words I can generate and explore scenes. I think I could come up with something similar for divination.
That’s such a cool idea! I think there’s so much potential there for a divinatory tool. It reminds me of a pendulum board, too. I hope you share if you get around to trying it!
I absolutely will!
I also find that tarot and meditation is my favorite form of divination. I do need to dedicate myself to it more though.
